Context

Client-data migration is not only a file-conversion problem. The design has to account for operating history, local conventions, ambiguous values, and exceptions without presenting assumptions as facts.

Problem

The stated design problem is how to fit source records to a new import model without losing meaningful identifiers or silently turning ambiguous values into false certainty. No public data profile currently verifies the characteristics of the source records.

My role

My role is identified as migration lead. The intended responsibilities include preparation workflow design, target-schema mapping, normalization rules, and review points, but the supporting work artifacts are not public here.

Approach

The intended workflow calls for additive versioning, repeatable transformations, exception reporting, and validation against the production import format. No public artifact currently verifies that the complete workflow has been executed.

System design / operating model

The design calls for preserving raw inputs, creating versioned outputs, checking the target contract, and keeping unresolved review items visible rather than forcing apparently clean data. These are process requirements, not verified outcomes on this site.

Current state and measurement

The project remains in progress. This repository does not establish whether a migration artifact has completed a dry run, been approved, been imported, or entered controlled use. Production readiness and downstream outcomes have not yet been publicly validated or measured.

Interpretation

Migration quality depends on how clearly a team handles ambiguity. A visible exception is safer than an invisible assumption.
